Football Team At UNC Blood Drive Wednesday, 6 June 2012, 4:17 pm

North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora and football players Casey Barth, Jonathan Cooper, Sean Fitzpatrick and Erik Highsmith attended UNC’s Blood Drive on Tuesday. The blood drive collected 784 productive units of blood, which will be turned into 2,352 products that will help sustain the lives of the sick and injured. One unit of blood can impact as many as three patients.

Brewer: Voight Leaves Great Football Legacy Friday, 25 May 2012, 3:17 am

When Mike Voight passed away this week, he left behind a legacy of football greatness at North Carolina. He is still the second-leading rusher in school history and ranks second in career touchdowns. He was ACC Player of the Year in both 1975 and 1976.

Tar Heel Legend Mike Voight Passes Away Thursday, 24 May 2012, 1:35 pm

Mike Voight, the second-leading rusher in North Carolina history and a two-time ACC Player of the Year, has died at the age of 58. Voight was found at his home Tuesday morning. The cause of death was not immediately known.

Tar Heels Named To Phil Steele’s Preseason All-ACC Team Tuesday, 22 May 2012, 2:40 pm

Eleven Tar Heels have landed on Phil Steele’s preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference football team, including five that garnered first-team accolades. In addition, offensive guard Jonathan Cooper and linebacker Kevin Reddick were named to Steele’s first-team All-America squad.

Luke Named National Video Coordinator Of The Year Tuesday, 22 May 2012, 1:29 pm

North Carolina’s Christopher Luke was voted the 2012 Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year by the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA) at its annual convention in Indianapolis. Luke wasselected from the 17 Conference Video Coordinator of the Year winners by a majority vote of his peers.

Football Season Opener Set For 12:30 p.m. Thursday, 17 May 2012, 6:37 pm

North Carolina’s season opener vs. Elon on Saturday, Sept. 1, will kickoff at 12:30 p.m. and will be televised by the ACC Network. The following week, the Tar Heels travel to Winston-Salem for a 3 p.m. kickoff vs. Wake Forest. That game will be televised by the Regional Sports Networks (RSN).

Official Pairings Announced for Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge Wednesday, 25 April 2012, 1:34 am

The Chick-fil-A Bowl today announced the official pairings for the sixth annual Chick-fil-A Bowl Challenge charity golf tournament. A 16-team field of NCAA head coaches and celebrity alumni will compete in a two-man scramble format over 18 holes, vying for a first-place prize of $125,000 in scholarship funds. North Carolina is represented by Roy Williams and Larry Fedora.
