Want to rile up an ACC Football fan? Tell him that his league is a basketball conference. You’ll get a stiff argument at schools like Virginia Tech and Clemson but, sadly, you’d be right and the ACC fan would be left to cry in his beer.
It was symbolic last year that Virginia Tech and Cincinnati met in the Orange Bowl as representatives of the two conference that annually battle to decide which is the weakest of the BCS six. Ironically, after hijacking Miami, Virginia Tech and Boston College from the Big East, the ACC was expected to be the new bully on the block. Hasn’t happened. In fact, as the Big East retooled and added Cincy, Loisville and South Florida, they’ve stayed dead even.
Looks like another top heavy year in the ACC with the top teams really strong and the bottom feeders exceptionally bad. Find out which teams land where in our ACC Football Preview.
